In 1973, Franco Enea founded the company Enea Garden Decoration to import and sell Italian terracotta, sandstone pots, and earthenware in Switzerland.
His son, Enzo Enea, who assisted his father in working in the gardens in his spare time, found his passion not in merely decorating gardens; he also wanted to design them. So, he trained as an industrial designer and landscape architect before taking over the company in 1993.
Enzo Enea developed the family business in the following decades from a local operation with two employees into an international landscape architecture firm with over 240 employees and established branches in Zurich, Milan, Miami and New York. His unique Tree Museum is also located at the headquarters in Rapperswil-Jona.
